Dori Exum, LSCW, LMTBe bold enough to begin. Become who you’re meant to be.
Hi, I'm Dori!
I founded Bold & Becoming Wellness from a deep belief that healing begins when people feel seen, supported, and empowered to embrace both who they are and who they are becoming.
For more than 17 years, I have worked alongside children, adolescents, adults, and families across Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas, helping individuals navigate adversity, build resilience, and discover their strengths. My journey in service began in 2009 with AmeriCorps, where I taught language and literacy to underserved children and was recognized by Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser for my work as a mentor, advocate, and positive role model for at-risk youth.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Social Work with a Minor in Human Services and later graduated with honors from my Master's program in Social Work. Over the years, I have continued to expand my clinical expertise through specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), suicide prevention intervention (ASIST), trauma-responsive care, and assessments supporting older adults experiencing medical, cognitive, and life-transition challenges.
My professional work extends beyond the therapy office. I have partnered with organizations such as St. Louis ArtWorks and Miriam Learning Center to support youth development, creativity, and emotional wellness through community-based programming. I also served as Team Leader for the 2026 Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk, reflecting my ongoing commitment to mental health advocacy and suicide prevention.
In recognition of my community impact, I was honored by the Metro Area Professional Organization (MAPO), which celebrates professionals making meaningful contributions throughout the region. I am a longstanding member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and a registered member of Star Behavioral Health Providers, supporting veterans, service members, and their families.
Whether I'm working with a child struggling to find their voice, an adolescent navigating life's challenges, or an adult seeking healing and growth, my goal is the same: to provide a compassionate, collaborative space where people can build insight, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful change.
At Bold & Becoming Wellness, I believe growth isn't about becoming someone different. It's about courageously stepping into the fullest version of who you already are.
My work is guided by a simple belief: when people feel safe, seen, and supported, they naturally move toward wholeness.
It's an honor to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself and step into a life that feels grounded, authentic, and spiritually aligned.
